Founded in 1984 on our family’s 280-acre farm, Fieldstone Gardens has grown into one of Maine’s leading perennial nurseries, welcoming local gardeners and shipping plants throughout the United States.

Discover our extensive collection of perennials, trees, shrubs, annuals, vegetable seedlings, and garden décor. We offer more than 1,000 varieties of hardy, northern-grown perennials for sunny borders, shade gardens, rock gardens, ground covers, and everything in between. Our collection includes many unusual and hard-to-find plants, along with sought-after Siberian Iris hybrids introduced by renowned breeders Currier McEwen and D. Cole.

Visitors are invited to explore 20 acres of display gardens and nursery beds filled with colorful perennial borders, peaceful shade gardens, and beautiful specimen trees and shrubs. Our garden shop also features a thoughtfully selected assortment of garden accessories and gifts.

Carefully Packed for the Journey to Your Garden

All perennials are shipped bare root, either freshly dug from our nursery beds or removed from their containers. Because our plants are grown outdoors in USDA Zone 5, their foliage and dormancy will naturally reflect current conditions here at the nursery.

We take great pride in our careful packaging process. Each plant’s roots are wrapped in fresh, damp sphagnum moss harvested right here on our property, helping create a protective environment that keeps the root system fresh and ready for planting upon arrival.

Shipping is available from April through November, weather permitting. Plants shipped early in the season may arrive dormant, with little or no visible top growth. This is completely normal—although the foliage may not yet be showing, the plant has an established root system and is ready to grow when conditions are right.

During periods of extreme summer heat, we may temporarily pause shipping to help protect plant quality. Updates will be posted on our website and social media pages.

Peony Shipping

Because of their natural growth cycle, peonies are shipped only in the fall, beginning in September, weather permitting. Orders may be placed at any time and will be held until fall shipping begins.
