Steve Jones, along with his parents Carleton and Maetta Jones, openned Fieldstone Gardens in the spring of 1984 as a extension to the fourth-generation family farm. The land was first settled by Ezra and Nina Jones, his great-grandparents, in 1916.
Fieldstone Gardens features 10 acres of gardens, a 250-acre sustainable tree farm, an apple orchard, a lilac collection, a retail store, numerous ponds and their famous stone walls. The nursery showcases vast display gardens with perennial borders, shade gardens, specimen trees and shrubs. It has been referred to as “One of the most beautiful spots in central Maine.”
The garden center welcomes the public April – October and offers a large assortment of vegetable seedlings, annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees (fruit and ornamental). Fieldstone Gardens boasts one of the largest assortments of Astilbe in the U.S., as well as over 200 varieties of Hosta, 150+ peonies, and 200+ daylilies. Fieldstone Gardens features a diverse collection of Dr. Currier McEwen Siberian Irises, recognized for their excellence. Dr. McEwen, an esteemed Iris hybridizer, lived in Harpswell, Maine.
Fieldstone Gardens serves beginners and seasoned horticulturists alike. Knowledgeable staff is on hand and happy to assist you with all your gardening needs. Every week unveils a variety of flowers in bloom, so make regular visits, especially for the peony blooms in June and Daylily Days in July.
November and December months feature fresh cut Christmas trees available for purchase.
