Aruncus x ‘Chantilly Lace’ (Goatsbeard)

Delicate, cream-colored flower plumes rise above deep green foliage in late spring to early summer, creating a soft, feathery display that brightens shaded gardens. The airy blooms resemble Astilbe, but this Goatsbeard offers improved drought tolerance once established.

Its finely textured foliage forms a graceful mound that becomes completely covered in flowers at peak bloom. Plant height varies depending on light exposure—plants grown in fuller sun tend to stay more compact, while those in shade or filtered light grow taller and fuller.

Though slower to establish during the first couple of seasons, ‘Chantilly Lace’ becomes a dependable, long-lived perennial that puts on an impressive display year after year. Be sure to give it adequate space at planting time, as mature plants are difficult to transplant.

A hybrid selection developed from both native and non-native species.
