Hamamelis x intermedia 'Barmstedt Gold' (Spring Blooming Witch Hazel) A vibrant cultivar showcasing a magical display of rich golden-yellow flowers brushed with tints of red at the base of each petal. Upright in youth becoming broader with age. Noted for its early blooms, as soon as temperatures rise above around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Each curly, crimped yellow-orange flower has four strap-like petals with red tints emerging from a purple-red calyx. When temperatures drop below freezing, the petals will curl up and then open again when warmer temperatures return. Large oval leaves are initially a light yellowish-green, then a sage-green before changing to shades of yellow in autumn. Full sun/partial shade. 10-12', Z5-8.
