From early to mid-summer, creamy-white flower plumes rise 1–2 feet above the foliage, adding height and softness to its strong architectural form. Rodgersia thrives in moist, deeply prepared soil and is especially well suited to woodland gardens, bog gardens, rain gardens, stream banks, and the edges of water features.

It grows best in part shade, but can tolerate some sun as long as the soil stays consistently moist.
