Stewartia pseudocamellia — Japanese Stewartia
A refined, four-season standout, Japanese Stewartia offers a rare combination of elegant flowers, vibrant fall color, and showy exfoliating bark. In early summer, cup-shaped white blooms—2–3" across—open with bright yellow stamens. After they drop, the stamens remain intact, creating a charming carpet beneath the branches. Seed pods mature from green to brown in fall, releasing flattened seeds in October and November.
This small, slow-growing, pyramidal tree delivers exceptional year-round beauty, including superb reddish-purple fall color and striking multi-colored bark. Easy to grow and naturally pest-free.
