Aconitum napellus
(Monkshood)
Aconitum napellus produces vibrant blue, hooded flowers on tall upright stems from August into early September. Its late-season bloom time adds welcome color and vertical interest to perennial borders as many summer flowers begin to fade.
It performs best in moist, well-drained soil and can be grown in full sun to part shade. Deer resistant and attractive to pollinators, it is a useful choice for mixed borders, cottage gardens, and woodland edges.
