Amelanchier alnifolia - Serviceberry, Shadbush

Deciduous, upright shrub with four seasons of interest. Fragrant, white flowers emerge mid-spring just before leaves. Followed by small, sweet blue berries in early summer. Native to the US, it attracts bees, butterflies and birds. Berries can also be used for jams. 

In the fall, the foliage turns brilliant shades of orange and red. They are naturally found in an understory location but can do well in full sun to part shade. 10-15' Zone 3 - 8
