Dutchman’s Pipe is a vigorous native vine valued for its large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves that quickly create a dense screen of foliage. Its fast growth makes it especially useful for covering arbors, trellises, fences, and porches, while the unusual pipe-shaped flowers add extra interest beneath the leaves.

Native to the eastern United States and southeastern Canada, this vine is also an important larval host for the pipevine swallowtail butterfly. It grows well in a wide range of light conditions, from part sun to shade, and benefits from consistent moisture.
