Asclepias incarnata (Swamp Milkweed)

Swamp Milkweed is a beautiful native perennial with clusters of upturned pink flowers in early to midsummer. The blooms attract butterflies and other pollinators, while the narrow, willow-like leaves add a soft, upright texture to the garden.

Naturally found in floodplains and wet meadows, this milkweed prefers moist soil but can also perform well in average garden conditions. Its tall, narrow habit makes it a good choice for rain gardens, native plantings, pollinator gardens, and the back of sunny perennial borders.

Asclepias is an important host plant for monarch butterflies and a valuable nectar source for many other pollinators.
