Astilbe chinensis ‘Purple Candles’
(Syn: A. chinensis ‘Purplekerze’)
‘Purple Candles’ adds strong vertical color to shaded gardens with tall, upright rosy-purple flower plumes that bloom in July. The flowers rise above finely textured green foliage, bringing height and structure to woodland gardens and perennial borders.
Its taller habit makes it especially useful toward the middle or back of a shaded border, where it pairs well with Hostas, Ferns, Heuchera, and other moisture-loving perennials. The long flower stems also make a good addition to summer bouquets.
