Astilbe japonica ‘Deutschland’
‘Deutschland’ brightens shaded gardens with dense, brilliant white flower plumes that rise above glossy, deep green foliage in June. The crisp white flowers stand out especially well against darker foliage and bring fresh early-summer color to woodland gardens and perennial borders.
Its medium height makes it easy to use through the front or middle of shaded plantings, along pathways, or near moist garden areas. It pairs well with Hostas, Ferns, Heuchera, and other shade-loving perennials, and the sturdy flower stems are also excellent for cutting.
