Astilbe thunbergii 'Straussenfeder' ('Ostrich Plume')

Astilbe thunbergii ‘Straussenfeder’
(Syn: ‘Ostrich Plume’)

‘Straussenfeder’ adds a softer, more flowing look to shaded gardens with coral-pink flower plumes that arch and cascade like feathers. The blooms appear in June and July above bronze-tinted young foliage that matures to deep green.

Its graceful habit works especially well in woodland gardens, along shaded paths, and in mixed perennial borders where the arching flowers can spill naturally among Hostas, Ferns, and other moisture-loving plants. The blooms also attract bees and other pollinators.
