Baptisia alba is a stately North American native perennial with charcoal-gray stems, blue-green foliage, and tall racemes of pure white, pea-like flowers in late spring to early summer. The blooms attract bees and other pollinators and are followed by attractive seed pods that extend seasonal interest.

Once established, this long-lived perennial is drought tolerant and requires little maintenance. Its upright form works well as a specimen, in native and pollinator gardens, or toward the middle and back of perennial borders. It performs best in full sun but tolerates part shade well.
