Baptisia australis
(Blue False Indigo)
The most cold-hardy of the Baptisia species, this classic native perennial emerges early in spring and forms compact clumps of blue-green foliage. In June, it produces beautiful lavender-blue, pea-like flower spikes that add vibrant color to the garden. Plants grown in full sun maintain a sturdy, upright habit without staking. Long-lived and low-maintenance, Baptisia australis is a staple for sunny borders and native plantings.
