Bergenia x ‘Ripple Effects’

A bold, textural perennial that makes a statement in shaded gardens. ‘Ripple Effects’ features enormous, circular leaves—up to 13" wide—with beautifully serrated, wavy edges and a glossy green finish. Unlike many Bergenia varieties, this one is not evergreen and goes fully dormant after fall frost, returning fresh and vigorous in spring.

Clusters of delicate white flowers emerge in early spring, providing an early-season nectar source for butterflies. Tough and adaptable, this plant thrives in average to clay soils and is deer resistant. Best grown in part to full shade.

Nicknamed “Pig Squeak” for the sound its leaves make when rubbed together after a rain, this unique perennial adds both character and charm to the garden.

Care Notes:
Do not cut back foliage in fall. In spring, simply remove any winter-damaged leaves to tidy the plant.
