Brunnera macrophylla ‘Blue’

A classic shade perennial grown for both its delicate blooms and bold foliage. ‘Blue’ produces clusters of small, sky-blue flowers in spring that resemble forget-me-nots, rising above large, heart-shaped green leaves. After flowering, the foliage remains attractive and forms a dense, reliable clump that works well as a groundcover.

This woodland plant thrives in shady, moisture-retentive areas and is especially effective planted under trees or shrubs. It may gently self-seed in ideal conditions, creating a naturalized look over time. Clumps can be divided in early fall to maintain vigor or expand plantings.

Brunnera performs best in rich, consistently moist soil. In cooler northern climates, it can tolerate some morning sun if moisture is maintained, while in warmer regions it prefers full shade.
