Carpinus betulus 'Frans Fontaine' (European Hornbeam) Tree

Carpinus betulus ‘Frans Fontaine’ — European Hornbeam

Add strong vertical structure to the landscape with ‘Frans Fontaine’, a narrow, columnar European Hornbeam that maintains its upright form as it matures. Serrated green leaves fill the branches through spring and summer before turning bright yellow in fall.

Growing about 35 feet tall while staying relatively narrow, this selection works well where height is needed without taking up too much horizontal space. It is especially useful as a specimen, along property lines, or in formal landscapes.
