Chelone lyonii ‘Hot Lips’ – Pink Turtlehead

Bring fresh color and texture to moist garden areas with this native Turtlehead. New foliage emerges with a warm bronze-green tint in spring before maturing to bright green later in the season. From August into September, upright stems are topped with rose-pink, turtlehead-shaped flowers that provide welcome color as summer begins to wind down.

‘Hot Lips’ is well suited to moist borders, rain gardens, woodland edges, and naturalized plantings. Its upright habit works nicely through the middle of perennial beds, where the bright flowers attract hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators.

Chelone is valued for its dependable late-season bloom and preference for consistently moist soil. It performs well in full sun when moisture is available and also adapts nicely to part shade.
