Cornus × ‘Venus’ – Flowering Dogwood
‘Venus’ is a vigorous hybrid dogwood known for its exceptionally large, creamy-white blooms, which can reach 6–7 inches across. Developed by Dr. Elwin R. Orton, Jr. at Rutgers University, it combines heavy flowering with strong resistance to anthracnose and powdery mildew.
The tree develops a dense, low-branched, spreading habit that gives it a broad, layered appearance in the landscape. Its large spring blooms and attractive foliage make it a good choice as a specimen tree or focal point.
