Dryopteris affinis                                                                                                                        (Scaly Male Fern) A rosette of finely cut, arching fronds from an erect, stout rhizome. Bright chartreuse-green in spring in contrast to the scaly, golden-brown midribs, they mature to rich green later in the season. 3-4', Z4-8.
