Echinacea purpurea 'Magnus'
The classic purple coneflower with large, daisy-like blooms. Rose-pink ray petals surround a spiky coppery-brown central cone. Petals are held horizontally, making the flowers appear even bigger, and new blooms are more intense in color, fading to pale rose for a natural bicolor effect. Blooms from midsummer through fall, extending the garden season when many perennials have finished flowering. Deadheading can prolong bloom, but leaving some seed heads provides winter food for finches and adds architectural interest.
Size: 30–36" tall × 18–24" spread
Zone: 3–8
Sun: Full sun
Notes: Attracts pollinators, deer resistant; 1998 Perennial Plant Association Plant of the Year.
