Hepatica acutiloba (Sharp-Lobed Hepatica)

A charming native wildflower of the eastern United States, Hepatica acutiloba is a clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial that brings early spring gardens to life. Delicate, bowl-shaped flowers—about 1 inch wide—emerge very early in the season, featuring pointed petals above distinctive three-lobed leaves.

Bloom color is typically white, but you may also see soft shades of pale pink or lavender-purple. These nectar-rich flowers are an important early food source for pollinators. Blooms gently close at night and during cloudy weather, adding to their unique character.

Foliage remains attractive beyond the bloom season, turning beautiful shades of russet red and

deep purple in fall. This plant is considered ephemeral, with its most active growth in spring.
