Iris sibirica ‘Butter and Sugar’
(Siberian Iris)

A classic McEwen introduction, ‘Butter and Sugar’ is known for its soft, non-fading yellow amoena coloring. The blooms feature creamy white standards above warm yellow falls, creating a clean, cheerful look in the early summer garden.

This diploid variety was an important breakthrough in bringing yellow tones into 28-chromosome Siberian Iris. It blooms from early midseason into late midseason, with the possibility of rebloom later in the season under favorable conditions.

Compact compared to many Siberian Iris varieties, ‘Butter and Sugar’ works well near the front or middle of borders, along moist garden edges, and in naturalized plantings. Its narrow, upright foliage continues to add texture after bloom.

NOTE: Due to the growth habits of iris, orders placed while they are in bloom, typically from late May through July, will be held until mid-September for shipping. This allows the plants to finish blooming and helps avoid shipping during the hottest days of summer.
