A standout McEwen introduction, ‘Ruffled Velvet’ is known for its rich, velvety dark reddish-purple blooms and beautifully ruffled form. The 4½-inch flowers have a flaring shape, with laced and feathered styles that add extra detail and texture.

This diploid variety blooms from midseason into late season, bringing deep color to the Siberian Iris display. Compact in height, it works well near the front or middle of borders, in iris collections, and along moist garden areas.

‘Ruffled Velvet’ is considered one of the great Siberian Iris varieties and has also been valued as a superb parent in breeding.
