Lathyrus latifolius is a vigorous perennial vine that produces clusters of butterfly-shaped flowers in shades of pink, purple, and white. The blooms appear in midsummer and attract bumblebees and other pollinators.
Its twining stems are well suited for fences, trellises, arbors, and slopes where the vine has room to climb and spread. Once established, it is a dependable, low-maintenance choice for sunny gardens with average, well-drained soil.
