Lilium superbum (Turk’s Cap Lily)
A true native showstopper, Lilium superbum dazzles in late summer with striking orange-red, downward-facing blooms adorned with dark spots and gracefully recurved petals—the classic “Turk’s cap” form. Its tall, elegant stems can reach up to 6 feet, creating a dramatic vertical accent in the garden.
Native to the eastern United States from New Hampshire to Georgia, this fragrant lily thrives in consistently moist, well-drained soil and performs beautifully in full sun to part shade. A favorite of hummingbirds, it also makes an excellent cut flower and brings a touch of wild beauty to borders and naturalized plantings.
