(Turk’s Cap Lily)
Lilium superbum is a tall native lily with orange-red, downward-facing flowers marked with dark spots blooming in mid-summer to early fall. The strongly recurved petals create the distinctive Turk’s cap shape, while sturdy stems provide height and structure in late-summer gardens.
Native to the eastern United States, this fragrant perennial grows best in consistently moist, well-drained soil. It is well suited for borders, pollinator gardens, woodland edges, and naturalized plantings. The flowers attract hummingbirds and can also be used in cut arrangements.
