Malus ‘Profusion’ – Crab apple
‘Profusion’ is an ornamental crab apple valued for its colorful spring flowers, distinctive foliage, and persistent fruit. Deep red flower buds open to rich purple-red blooms that gradually soften to lavender tones as they age.
New foliage emerges purple before maturing to bronze-green, adding color beyond the flowering season. In fall, small oxblood-red fruits develop and often remain on the tree into winter, providing seasonal interest and a food source for birds.
Its rounded form and manageable size make it a good choice for lawns, mixed borders, and specimen plantings.
