Malus ‘State Fair’ Apple Tree
Developed by the University of Minnesota in 1978, ‘State Fair’ is a reliable early-season apple bred from ‘Mantet’ × ‘Oriole.’ It produces medium-sized fruit with attractive red striping and a bright, sprightly tart flavor balanced by subtle sweetness.
This versatile apple has a pleasant, semi-acidic taste and firm texture, making it excellent for fresh eating, baking, and general kitchen use. It’s especially well-suited for northern climates and is considered one of the top early apples for colder regions. Best enjoyed soon after harvest, as it has a shorter storage life.
