Myrica gale ‘Sweetgale’
Sweetgale is a dense, rounded native shrub valued for its fragrant foliage and ability to thrive in difficult wet sites. Narrow green leaves create a layered, textured appearance and release a pleasant aroma when brushed or crushed.
Well suited for boggy soils, rain gardens, shoreline edges, and naturalized plantings, this adaptable shrub also tolerates brackish conditions. Its dense growth provides cover for native birds, while its fall fruit offers an important seasonal food source.
