Northern Bayberry is a tough North American native shrub that performs well in challenging conditions, including poor, sandy, and alkaline soils. Its dense, aromatic foliage creates a full, textured appearance and releases a spicy fragrance when crushed.
This adaptable shrub works well as a specimen, informal hedge, screen, or transition planting between cultivated gardens and natural areas. It may remain evergreen in milder climates but is typically deciduous in colder regions.
