Fernleaf Peony is a distinctive species peony with finely divided, needle-like foliage that gives the plant a soft, feathery texture. In late spring to early summer, single crimson-red flowers up to 3 inches across open above the foliage, each centered with contrasting golden-yellow stamens.
One of the earliest peonies to bloom, this slow-growing species brings both unusual foliage and early-season color to perennial borders, rock gardens, and specialty plantings.
Its compact size and finely textured leaves make it especially useful where a traditional peony may feel too large or coarse.
