Phlox subulata ‘Violet Pinwheels’
(Creeping Phlox)
‘Violet Pinwheels’ creates a vivid spring carpet with masses of star-shaped purple flowers held above dense, dark green, needle-like foliage. The distinctive notched, slightly upturned petals give each bloom a pinwheel-like appearance, with the flowers deepening toward violet as they mature.
Its low, spreading habit makes it especially useful along the front of borders, over rock walls, on slopes, or tucked into rock gardens. Once established, it handles dry conditions well and provides useful evergreen texture beyond the bloom season.
