Soft lavender-pink flower spikes rise above a bushy clump of light green foliage edged in creamy white, bringing both flower color and bright leaf contrast to the garden. Blooming in late summer into fall, this variegated obedient plant is also excellent for cutting.

The cream-edged foliage makes ‘Variegata’ especially useful as a focal point in borders, cottage gardens, and partial shade plantings. We placed a few specimen plants in a partial shade garden, where they created a beautiful contrast against a fieldstone wall.

Physostegia virginiana is native to a wide range of the U.S., from Maine to Georgia and west from North Dakota to Texas.
