Pinus densiflora ‘Oculus Draconis’ (Dragon’s-Eye Pine)
A striking and unusual pine, ‘Oculus Draconis’ is known for its eye-catching variegated needles—emerald green boldly banded with creamy yellow, creating the signature “dragon’s eye” effect when viewed along the branch. In fall, the needles shift to a soft chartreuse tone that remains through winter, offering year-round interest.
As the tree matures, its bark begins to crack and peel, revealing handsome orange tones beneath—another standout feature that adds texture and color to the winter landscape. Its naturally rounded, globe-like form makes it a beautiful specimen for large gardens, open lawns, or mixed conifer plantings.
