‘Stairway to Heaven’ forms a dense, tidy mound of deep green foliage edged in creamy white. The variegated leaves often develop soft pink tones during cool spring and fall weather, providing color even when the plant is not in bloom.

Clusters of lavender-blue flowers with contrasting white stamens appear from late spring into early summer. This easy-to-grow native cultivar performs well near the front of shaded borders, woodland gardens, and mass plantings, where its flowers attract bees and butterflies.
