Christmas Fern is a reliable evergreen native fern with rich, dark green fronds that provide year-round texture in shaded gardens. Its sturdy foliage creates an attractive backdrop for smaller woodland plants and can also be used in floral arrangements.
Native to Maine and much of eastern North America, its range extends from Nova Scotia west to Minnesota and south to Florida and eastern Texas. It grows best in partial to full shade with moist, well-drained soil.
