Pyrus communis 'Red D' Anjou' (Pear tree)
A productive and vigorous pear tree known for its flavorful fruit and reliable harvests. ‘Red D’Anjou’ produces large pears with deep red skin and smooth white flesh that is fine textured, juicy, and mildly sweet with a delicate aroma.
Excellent for fresh eating, salads, desserts, and preserving, this variety stores well after harvest and is considered more cold tolerant than many other pears. Its dependable bloom also makes it a useful pollinator for other European pear varieties.
Plant in full sun with moist, well-drained soil for best fruit production. Winter pruning helps maintain an open branching structure and encourages healthy airflow and fruiting.
