Quercus alba (White Oak)
A majestic, long-lived native tree prized for its strength and beauty. White Oak is an important timber species—its wood is watertight, rot-resistant, and valued for furniture, barrels, and construction.
This slow-growing shade tree matures into a grand, rounded, and slightly irregular form that stands as a centerpiece in any landscape. In fall, it delivers outstanding color, shifting to rich shades of purple and red.
White Oak also supports abundant wildlife. Its acorns are a vital food source for red-headed woodpeckers, wild turkey, deer, quail, chipmunks, and even ducks. It is also a larval host plant for several Hairstreak butterfly species, making it an excellent choice for native and pollinator-focused plantings.
