Sambucus canadensis ‘Adams’ (American Elderberry)
A reliable native shrub with strong seasonal interest and ecological value. ‘Adams’ forms a dense, rounded habit filled with deep green foliage, making it well-suited for naturalized areas, borders, or as a backdrop planting. In early summer, large, flattened clusters of creamy white flowers cover the plant, followed by abundant clusters of dark blue to black berries later in the season.
This selection is especially valuable for supporting wildlife, offering both nectar for pollinators and fruit for birds and small mammals. Its full, shrubby form also provides useful shelter in the landscape.
