Sambucus canadensis ‘Ranch’ (Elderberry)
A compact, highly productive elderberry selected for its exceptional fruit set and garden-friendly size. In late spring, flattened clusters of creamy white flowers cover the plant, followed by heavy crops of deep purple-black berries in August. Its naturally rounded habit makes it easy to fit into home landscapes while still delivering impressive yields.
This vigorous native shrub is tolerant of a range of soil conditions, including less fertile sites, and is easy to grow in full sun. The nutrient-rich berries are ideal for jams, syrups, and wines—though you may need to protect your harvest, as birds are especially fond of the fruit.
