Sambucus canadensis ‘Wyldewood’ (Elderberry)
A vigorous, productive elderberry prized for its exceptionally large flower clusters and reliable fruit set. In early to midsummer, massive white blooms—often reaching up to 12 inches across—open with a light lemony fragrance, standing out against green, lance-shaped foliage. By August, abundant clusters of purple-black berries develop across the plant.
This larger native shrub is well-suited for borders, edible landscapes, or naturalized areas. The fruit is rich in vitamin C and commonly used for jellies, jams, and wine, though it also attracts plenty of birds if left on the plant.
