Thermopsis caroliniana produces tall, dense spikes of sulfur-yellow to cream/tan, sweet pea–like flowers in late spring to early summer, adding striking vertical color to the garden. Its velvety, gray-green trifoliate foliage provides texture and contrast, and the plant serves as a host for butterfly larvae, supporting pollinator activity.
This hardy perennial thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and reaches 3–5' tall, making it ideal for back borders, naturalized areas, or wildlife-friendly plantings.
