Veronicastrum virginicum ‘Challenger’ – Culver’s Root

Add graceful height and soft summer color to the garden with this upright native perennial. Tall, narrow spires of soft pink, tubular flowers rise above the foliage in midsummer, creating a candelabra-like display that brings strong vertical structure to borders and naturalistic plantings.

Whorled green leaves form a handsome backdrop for the flowers and add texture throughout the growing season. ‘Challenger’ works especially well toward the back of perennial borders, in meadow-style plantings, and in pollinator gardens. Its tall flower stems are also excellent for cutting.

Culver’s Root is valued for its long-lasting summer bloom and strong appeal to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. It performs well in full sun to part shade and is generally left alone by deer.
