Vinca minor is a low-growing evergreen perennial that spreads along the ground, with trailing stems rooting at the joints to form a dense groundcover. Lavender-blue, phlox-like flowers appear in spring, with additional blooms occurring intermittently through summer and into fall.

Well suited to shaded areas beneath mature trees, Vinca tolerates dry conditions once established and is useful for covering bare ground where other plants may struggle. Its spreading habit also makes it a practical choice for slopes, where the rooted stems can help hold soil in place.
